its fine to take your time on paradox. it is a rpg and not a visual noval,so of course it wii take longer to trasnlate.

  2. Anonymous

to be honest, there really aren’t any scenes in the demo I want to see. but it’s nice to see that you aren’t dead.

  3. Anonymous

Dargoth I’m happy to hear from you and glad that you’re getting some help. You deserve it brotha. Don’t stress out over it too much, we understand RL comes first. Looking forward to the demo translation when it’s done.

  4. Stop translating games or I will report you to the law. Japanese things should stay in Japanese. If people want to play Japanese games they should learn Japanese. By translating these games you are destroying the Japanese language. Unless you want to be responsible for the destruction of an entire language, you must stop it. Here is further evidence:

“The world’s population is 6,525,170,264 (July 2006 est.) The birth rate is estimated at 20.05 births/1,000 population and the death rate at 8.67 deaths/1,000 population.

That gives us 358,192 births and 154,889 deaths as a daily average.”- http://www.cia.gov

Every time you translate a game (~6 months) ~28 million people die in between. Even higher now because the estimate is from 8 years ago. Your destruction on language and culture is having a negative impact as people cannot live without those things. Unless you want more people to die from your ruthless cultural destruction I order you to stop.

Your translating of Japanese games is clearly affecting Japanese society. Those poor people have a baby drain problem right now with deaths > births and their population is expected to decline significantly in the next several decades. Very few have equal or worse population decline right now. You need to stop it Dargoth. Stop you are destroying Japan. What the fuck have they done to you?!

Something is wrong with your mind if you continue translating these games with all this going around you. Ruthless psycho-path. Stop it now. No more cultural destruction please. You are killing everyone.

cant you buy this game with paypal? on the english dlsite i want to check out but the only paymethod says credit card (wich i don’t have).
i had to ask a friend to buy it for me last time with lunch wich i’m a little reluctant to do again sinds it was a let down.

or even better ( altough i know i will get flamed for this) does anyone want to share this game because i bought lunch the last time and it was kinda disappointing.

the demo of dinner is pretty much useless only one scene.
if its good i will buy it breakfast was awesome.

i dont have a paypall acount for a long time so its a little confusing for me.

  6. NoName

Dargoth, in MGQ Paradox RPG Demo you translated ソニア as Sonya, when it’s supposed to be Sonia. It would have been correct if her name was ソニャ. Just so you know.

    • NoName

And in case of doubt, the name Sonia exists (I’m from Spain and the proper writing is Sonia here) while I never heard someone with Sonya as their name.

      • NoName

Okay, then it exists, but it’s still better to translate it to Sonia. In Dangan Ronpa 2 ソニア is written as Sonia too, both in fan translation and official translation so I believe that one is the proper translation.

Also, while I do understand why you translated Usa’s name to Rabbi (since Usagi means Rabbit, and Usa is a short version of Usagi, you shortened Rabbit to Rabbi), I think it’s better if you don’t translate Usa to Rabbi. Specially when that character is constantly saying Usa~, there’s a chance that in the main game they may joke about her having her name the same as her vocal sounds, but if you translate it to Rabbi, you may be forced to change her Usa~ to Rabbi~, and Rabbi~ doesn’t sound really good IMO.

      • Sonia, Sonya, and Sonja are all the same name written differently depending on language. It’s like Luca, Luke, and Luka. Maybe I should go with Sonja to match Luka?

      • Linguist

Languages are not absolute. There can always be more than one interpretation of what a word means, or how a word can most closely be compared in another language. That’s why materials (games, movies, etc…) will reflect the translator’s style when they are finished.

Thanks for all your translating so far Dargoth.

Hey Dargoth, since you have touched the game while translating it, do you know what part of the script or database contains the part that manipulates Job XP? I’m trying to find it to increase the amount you gain after a battle or is needed for each level in order to test all the skills of every job/race, and unfortunately that’s an annoying process right now because of the low amount you gain.

    • Anonymous

You can use cheat engine to manipulate values like that. For this game, values seem to be stored as 2n+1. (a value of 0 would be 1 in memory, 1 would be 3, 45 would be 91, etc.)

    • Monster-Girl Lover

It’s done as a section of the notes section in the enemies list, so you’d need to either edit that or check one of the accessories’ notes section that boosts job XP and copy/past that into some other piece of equipment and adjust that. We’re being much clearer in listing what various skills do though in the translation (actual % multipliers to damage instead of listing power as E/C/etc), so you should have no issues.

  8. Sevalle

Not interested in Dinner so yeah… vore just doesn’t do anything for me. Looking forward to the Paradox. And peaking of that, looks like Toro showed another monster girl. She looks pretty cute. ˇˇ

  9. Izanagi

These days people choose names that they like, regardless of origin, even names that aren’t names like apple, or using punctuation. I heard there was a girl in the US who was named Le-a (pronounced Ledasha)

  10. Anonymous

I’d rather Dargoth abandon the demo and do this and then go back to Sei Monmusu Gakuen until Paradox is fully released.

  11. KTyJLXy

It’s so sad Rogue is not translating anymore, things would be sooo much faster with you two working on Paradox 🙁

  12. Anonymous

Hey guys (or girls), just downloaded the demo and got it working. Managed to play through until you first get into the mountains (so basically 1 minute in) but the game crashes upon entering the mountains.

The error seems to be that there is a missing file in the directory (Graphics/Parallaxes/Mountains5). I’m assuming that is a backdrop for a battle. I tried renaming a file that probably wasn’t going to be used in the demo to Mountains5, but that didn’t work. Any ideas?

Bonus points if Dargoth himself answers this question. Thanks in advance!

    • Anonymous

Was the file you renamed in the Graphics/Parallaxes directoryor from another directory? There seem to be 15 backdrops in the folder – each is a 544×544 png. If you took one from another directory that wasn’t the same size, it had an extension other than png, or it wasn’t moved to the Graphics/Parallaxes directory; it may not recognize it.

Otherwise, a reverse image search shows that the contents of that folder are rehosted at http://www.4shared.com/all-images/hD6b7rCu/Parallaxes.html?locale=th

Does anyone know why when i open Dinner i get a blank screen with letters like these ŠeƒTƒ€ƒlƒCƒ‹ƒNƒŠƒbƒN‚ʼn{——‚Å‚«‚Ü‚·B
    ŸCG‰{——ƒ‚[ƒhŸ
    ƒmƒxƒ‹ƒ‚[ƒh‚É‚·‚é
it didn’t happen when i played Breakfast and Lunch but only started now when i got a new PC?

  14. Axel Almer

Dargoth, it’s the end of the month and I’m calling your tab, you owe us 1 Monster Girl Quest: Paradox Demo translation…A cookie to who ever gets the reference, and another if you continue it lol.

But all joking I thank you Dargoth for putting the time into this so we can enjoy it and I can’t wait for the translation of the demo, (I know you said you were slacking but i still think the full game will be a doozy to translate, which is why I appreciate what you do so much.)

    • Cellulanus

I’m fine, if disappointing, with no translation yet. The only thing I expect is a progress update. Even if it’s just a quick “Sorry, not yet, maybe next month” so I know to cool my jets. Until then I’m trapped in “any second now” mode and build up my excitement too much.

      • Yeah, I can see why that’s annoying. Progress continues every day, but obviously not done yet. The town dialogue is just about wrapped up, but the encyclopedia and h-scenes aren’t, along with some other misc. lines.

  15. Clockwork

Is there room for another helper?
Presumably someone with good computer skills?
If so, I’m down to do some helping too.

  16. Mr. Trollarch

DARGOTH FIX THIS SHITTY GAME. I DOWNLOADED THE DEMO AND THE GAMES IN JAPANESE, LIKE WTF? TREYARCH AND ACTIVISION BETTER FIX THIS IN THE NEXT PATCH OR I”M QUICKSCOPING THEM.

Whenever i try to run dinner or the bonus content my browser says “Firefox can’t find the file at /F:/Download/deli_Dessert/a/menuL.html.”

Anyone know what that’s all about?

  18. Anonymous

eh more Vore. I don’t see the appeal tbh. I wish more monster girl content would come out that wasn’t based on the them eating people …

    • Anonymous

Redundant comment, i mean there are people that don’t see the appeal to monger girl games at all. What does that matter to those that see the appeal? Your comment somehow made a difference?

      • CivilDeviation

Come on now, lets not go turning Dargoth’s space into a trolls playhouse while we wait for the future goodies.

I assume all of the people insulting those that dislike vore are being ironic. It would take a very special idiot to seriously express their opinion that someone else’s opinion doesn’t matter.

Can anyone help me on how to use cheat engine so I can level fast, trying to see what skills you get on the demo for all of the race/classes but having trouble finding the values (I know that they are stored as 2n+1 but I have only managed to manipulate money and intimacy values, since the game does not tell you how much total xp you have its getting rather cumber some.) Any hints, ot other ways to manipulate xp gains or requirements?

    • Anonymous

Start new game or load save. In Cheat Engine do an unknown initial value search using 4 bytes. Enter battle and win then times xp acquired by 2 (ex: 1 Slime Girl is 4 xp gained so each member in party gains 8 xp) make sure you are out of battle dialog (values get added after battles end) take this value back to cheat engine and search for increased value by. Repeat till value found. Around 18785 is the exp cap for level 10. Job xp also adds to race also but same concept (ex: 1 Slime Girl is 1 job xp gained so each party member gains 2 job xp and 2 race xp) and the cap is around 8785. If you set the values to high when party levels up the game will correct the values to the cap though what ever value is added still uses 2n+1 so if you put an even number the game will crash.

      • Anonymous

Thank you very much, I manage to get it working. No idea why you needed to search the value at what it seems to be 2n but then need to plug it in as 2n+1. It’s no wonder I had so much trouble, since I did do what you told me to do-increasing by a specific value after starting with an unknown one- but I searched the wrong values. Once again thanks for that, just one more question. I heard a rumor saying that there are 2 hidden classes in the demo; The soldier and one other. if the other is in the demo, do you know how to unlock it or is it just stated as a teaser?

In Ilias Village go to indoor item shop. Merchant with purple hat is concerned for friend…. The first option offers your assistance. Gain three items and off you go out of town and to the east where there is a desert with a hill in the middle, Talus’s hill. . Roam around and you will see a similar merchant collapsed with a plant beside him, Option one offers help. Merchant runs off. Head back to Ilias Village and talk to that merchant again. A reward choice is offered (1) Sword of copper (2) 500G (3) Joining to merchant guild. (3) Joining the Merchant Guild grants you everything and a Business Permit.

      • Anonymous

You can also use Cheat Engine to manipulate your location on the map. Heading South East will increase by 2 for each step where heading North West will decrease by 2 for each step. X, Y of Ilias Village is 593, 711. Map isn’t finished and this only lets you see concept art like Enrika at the south west edge of the forest. At the Great Loss, big black hole to the south, you can hop past the scholar guarding the rope ladder and proceed down causing a crash as Map374 does not exist yet. Rather useless but its fun to hop over those barriers and see whats hidden on the other side.

Ep darghot, i’ve been creating a blog to know if people would like to see animated CGs in MGQ, and after all the vote it seems like yes, however, we can’t seem to find a way to send the idea to torotoro because we don’t know where to go and what button to press on their website to contact them… You can help us?

    the link –> http://monstergirlquest.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:XX-$n4k3-Xx/MGQ_animated%3F

We could also need your help in order to write the message if they can’t understand english.

    • Anonymous

Given the huge volume of monsters and art to be created, and how he invariable ends up waiting well after the game is done for all the art to be submitted, it’s probably not practical to animate too much… but I won’t lie, I’d love to see animations. Even if it was like just the primaries (say, anything that’s voice acted like the heavenly nights)

      • XX-$n4k3-Xx (SotML creator)

I think too, but from his answer at last we will be fixed about that question. Also, we can send him an english message or we will need to translate it in japanese?

  22. Anonymous

Dargoth can the translation of the demo be used as a starting foundation for the full game or do you have to start from scratch again?

  23. Don't vote for Dargoth

Dargoth ever consider being a politician? Cause I’ve been waiting and waiting and all I’ve been hearing are lies.

  24. The Web Dictionary Definition

Dargoth I think you made a mistake on your translations progress page. It says “temporarily- on hold”
I think you need to correct it.

    tem·po·rar·y
    adjective: temporary
    1. lasting for only a limited period of time; not permanent.
    “a temporary job”

    per·ma·nent
    adjective
    1. lasting or intended to last or remain unchanged indefinitely.
“a permanent ban on the dumping of radioactive waste at sea”

Trolling is an art from the ancient times of the internet and you clearly haven’t mastered it at all.

instead of bitching and making stupid jokes about dargoth translation progress keep in mind that Dargoth has an actual life in the real world, also keep in mind that he is the last translator monster girl quest has.

Lastly keep in mind that if Dargoth rage quit and drops the translation completely it will be your fault and the other “funny” guys on this page and you will have screwed over the entire english and non japanese fanbase.

Moral of the story is be gratefull Dargoth is putting his own time and effort into this so people like us can enjoy it for free (well the translation i mean).

      • hotshot

not to be a dousche but “trolling is an art from an ancient times of the internet”… yes because the internet has been out long enough to be considered ancient, and the term trolling was only invented years back from the popular internet meme.
Also honestly Dargoth is not gonna drop translations but over stuff like this. You just sound like a stiff PMSing bitch. You are stupid. By overreacting like this with dumb comebacks you are only feeding the troll. Just ignore it dumbass don’t throw wood in the fire. I support Dargoth but I can’t back someone who says stupid things like trolling is an art from the ancient times.

      • Anonymous

Uhm.. the ancient internet thing was a joke obviously.

But i guess your right about adding wood to the fire i’m just tired of all these idiots bitching about stuff they can’t do themselves.

  25. CwHart

Sadly we can’t silence the trolls through trash talking or trying to educate them. Best we can do is show support and appreciation to Dargoth for taking time to do this. Take all the time that is needed man. Though all of us eagerly wait, it’s your time you are working with.

  26. Anonymous

You better get your Japanese skills up. Dargoth is all a good guy and appreciate the work, but the amount of stuff that needs translated goes way beyond one person. I am sure that there will never be a translated mgq paradox. If you fancy it so much, just learn japanese, it will take you about the same time as the translations takes.

  27. Anonymous

If you compare the length of the demo to what the full game is it seems like it will take a long time to translate for one person. However i think we will at least get 50% patch before it gets to the point where Dargoth will need help or will just drop it. The only reason i say that is the game could be 4 to 5 times larger then mgq or any other game he translated. However i do not know how to translate games so maybe there is a easy way to do translation if there is then i might actually learn to try translating. I would not be able to do much but i could maybe help a little bit with the game. It just depends on how easy it would be to translate parts of the game.

    • Anonymous

weren’t there already people helping him right now? i do recall dargoth saying he found 2-3 helpers.

i also saw some guys offering help who had knowledge of japanese language or programming.

    • Anonymous

The easy way to translate the whole game may just be a different priority of what to translate. I don’t know what the actual breakdown of lines in the game is, but it sounds like a big part of the hang up is the side dialogue stuff, random NPCs around town and lines that change slightly based off how you progress in the game. That stuff adds to immersion of the game and all, but if that’s the difference between the game getting translated or not, I’d be all for just leaving the ancillary stuff untranslated.

If main plot/battle and item etc dialogue/H scenes is a lot less work than a 100% translation, that’d be enough to satisfy most people. I like reading all the town dialogue in MGQ1-3, but I like the 300 or so H scenes a lot better.

  28. Sevalle

These past few days are ofully quiet. He should have translated Violated Hero games cuz’ looking at this now we won’t be getting ether Paradox or that Monster high school game. Too much text for one person. ./

  29. Alex

Hey Dargoth Yokubou-no-tow is working on a new game called “Angel Crest” going by the blog it’s going to be like “Desire Dungeon” cool eh?

  30. Hong Kong

I think Dargoth needs to find a Japanese girlfriend, then the possibility of these games finishing translation significantly improves.

  31. Anonymous

“Paradox demo should be wrapping up by the end of the month. If all goes well (haha, right?)” – Dargoth before November

So I assume things didn’t go according to plan, pretty badly actully as it is 19 days after the end of october :O.
Would be nice if you let us know about such things tho 🙂

  32. Frequently Asked Questions

Dargoth, keep it simple. Don’t individually translate each game. Make a translator program that gives pretty good translations. I know nekohen has made something that is significantly better than a pure machine translator. Yes there are errors and its imperfect at times but it is understandable improved from MT (below screenshots). It is like the industrial revolution and interchangeability. I think its better to invest energy on on a improved translator on games than individually translating each word every time a new game comes out and spending too much time on it.

    http://nekohen.org/la-dea/english-translation/

    • There are thousands and thousands of people in private companies and in academia working on better machine translation every day. I’ll let them handle that.

    • Anonymous

What ? There is an in-game translation of La DEA of Libra ? Even if its machine trans. its still nice. The game is quite text heavy with all these menus, maps, locations items etc.

  33. HK-47

Little off topic but i wonder what’s up with Violated hero games will there be any new games in the future or is the series dead already

  34. Anonymous

Just to counter balance all the pestering you get, because I know the internet can be a rough entitled place, thanks for all the work you’re putting into this, Dargoth.

    • stopbeinglazypleaseDargoth

Unfortunately, that project has had no progress in over 100 days. When you mention it Dargoth doesn’t reply back in the comments. It is dead basically. that project has been dropped. Most people think he wants to become Roguetranslator by translating irrelevant mgq spinoffs but I think its best to have hope that the other games will be translated and that Dargoth will stop being lazy one of these days.

      • Anonymous

And i wish one of this day people whould actually stop complaining for something that is being done for free while taking relax time away from the guy doing it. You should just be thankful coz he has no obligation to do this at all

      • Anonymous

He has no obligation indeed but he said he would and even gave an estimate on the date it would be done, if he wants or needs to take a break its fine and even if he is dropping one or two projects he really has no obligation to finish them, but he got a lot of people hyped up and now we just keep coming back to find nothing and thats for sure annoying a lot of people, i dont really mind if he needs more time, even a couple months to finish what he is doing but he should just be straightforward and say this wont be finished until christmas or the next year so people stop complaining that stuff is not yet done

      • The SMMG translation isn’t dead. I said a long time ago that Paradox was going to take priority and that SMMG likely wouldn’t be finished for a very long time as a result. I had hoped to have the Rin route out before the release of Paradox part 1, but this demo has crushed my spirits a bit and put me way behind on targets. It happens. I haven’t taken any breaks or dropped anything. I may be lazy when it comes to translation, but I’m otherwise a busy guy who spends too much time at work and doesn’t have the mental energy to come home and crank out translations for the remaining hours of the day. Sorry for getting people hyped up; I usually try to keep expectations low.

I translate the MGQ Delicious series because I like vore and I think the series is good. Also, Rogue and I are polar opposites when it comes to translation (much to the consternation of people that want things done fast).

  35. YummyTummy

Lol SMMG is still alive? I thought you decided to drop that Dargoth. Weird, I would have been completely fine with that cause i’m not a fan of novels. I would be okay with you dropping that and moving onto other projects. But damn, seriously what SMMG is alive… I assumed it was dead after all this time. Haha, Good luck to you Dargoth, have fun translating a novel, you can seriously drop that it if you want though for realz…

  36. Anonymous

Been looking for someone who could possible help you translate MGQ Paradox… not going well would of thought that at least some manga translators would be interested but NO. Maybe you will get insanely lucky and Rogue will decide to come back and help you.

  37. Doing taxes

Okay whether you are a supporter or a complainer, I’m sick and tired of listening to all the bickering so I’ve collected hard cold data. Take a look at it and decide for yourself what to make of it. Is Dargoth on track, is he being lazy? Well, maybe he is so what

-Data is approximate but accurate +-0.5 months
-Dargoth announce projects after starting them, ~like 1-2%
-Dargoth does not give percentage progress for Paradox,
-Lunch is completed in 1.5 months
-Translation dates are first full patch release

    • CivilDeviation

Nice starting stats! If ya want a more accurate picture I’d average lines/month, sad reality is that not all games translate at the same speed due to the number and complexity of the lines and characters. Hard to fairly compare VH2 to MG3 translation rates without a more complex analysis.

  38. Doing taxes

    Summary:
    Yes technically looking at the data, Dargoth is being extremely “lazy” compared to before projects;
In the last 9.5 months he has only completed 18.2% of SMMG and a Ver 0.2 on a Demo

    Other summary:
Dargoth progress is significantly slower and some might even call it lazy yes he has been. But seriously who cares, he can be lazy if he wants

Conclusion. Dargoth is indeed “LAZY” shown by the data. The man has been working hard the last couple years so what give the man a break. I repeat “He can be lazy if he wants”

  39. meninblk

I mean its kind of hard to deny he’s been slow all year but Dargoth is a person. Who knows he might have gotten a girlfriend or something. People, work, things they drain out your time. Dargoth could just be getting a lot of action in bed now

  40. CwHart

You also have to consider that it’s the holidays and he prolly has more important things to take care of, while still trying to enjoy them himself.

  41. Anonymous

Also don’t know how many tried to take on a translation project, i once started with lots of good will to translate MGQ in my language from Rogue translation and i went all “fk it people can learn english” after 400 lines. True i didnt have any promise made to motivate me or anything else but unless you do it for a living it takes lots of time to choose the words carefully, which i guess it gets even harder when translating from japanese. If someone already has a work of his own you can’t expect him to burn his free time on it.

  42. I think the only way to go about translation is to see it as fun. It gives one not only the motivation but the joy to keep going. Honestly though, i really, really want to be able to play the game so i hope translation gets underway again soon. Translating the demo will make translating the full game less work for sure since most of the dialogue shall be pretty much the same.

      • Anonymous

Unfortunately, I’m a little dense. ^^; Plus, imagining is never quite as good as knowing.
But, I guess there’s nothing for it. I don’t want to put you out to do it, and I wouldn’t even know where to begin to find the raw text data to translate it myself.
