Since finding monster girl games that are actually released and worth playing has proven impossible, let me suggest a few that are still in development!

A visual novel in English with monster girls! And voice acting (that’s actually good)! There’s a demo available on the Patreon page and the full version will probably be out soon. The demo is fairly light-hearted, but that doesn’t mean the story won’t go in other directions. I’ve been backing this one on Patreon since it was announced since I’d love to see more monster girl stuff being made outside of Japan.

Another English monster girl entry, but this one is a 3D game. The models and animations on the sex scenes are pretty good, which is what counts. The rest of the game is still in early development and very raw. I’m not sure it’ll ever be a good “game” but I’m happy to support it on Patreon just to see more 3D monster girl sex. There are demos available to download and check out. It even has VR support if you’ve got a headset, which is probably incredible.

Unlike the other two recommendations, this one is Japanese and practically text free. It’s a side-scrolling action game with great pixel sex animations and is regularly updated with new monster girls. The game itself keeps improving, but it’s still fairly bare-bones in terms of actual gameplay and things to do. There should be an update relatively soon if you want to hold off playing it. I’m hoping these three games in development eventually turn out great because despite the good number of monster girl game releases, most of them are really bad. The ones with redeeming qualities are hard to recommend to anyone that doesn’t speak Japanese. Here’s a short list of releases this year that weren’t 100% terrible at least:

もんむす!逆レイプ学園 Another Dieselmine release, but this time a VN. Good art as always, but stale and boring.
犯されヒーロー～みんながボクの精液を狙ってる…!?～ If you aren’t tired of Violated Hero games.
魔立ロリサキュバス妖魔園 Monster Girl Kindergarten. Obviously loli. Made by the guy that did the MGQ Delicious! vore titles, although this game is light on vore. Playable with a walkthrough I guess.
モンスター娘百覧Vol.1 If you don’t follow Torotoro, maybe you missed Hyakuran coming out. Short stories in VN format. It mostly sucks.
堕落乙女異聞―堕ちたる勇者と真実の魔剣― Fallen Maidens Monster Girl Encyclopedia game. RPGMaker walking simulator with pixel sex. Incredibly disappointing. The pixel art is heavily censored. Pixellated pixels. Thanks Japan.
迷宮踏破 MonsterGirls If you remember Desire Dungeon, this game is Desire Dungeon meets Etrian Odyssey. The gameplay is all right, but if you want gameplay, just go play an Etrian Odyssey game or any of the dozens of great dungeon crawlers. H-content is mediocre.

Edit: Apparently Violated Hero 4 is also being released this year, on Dec 31. The spec page says it’s going to be wide screen this time too.

All right, it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these. There are tons of monster girl games and visual novels being made, but like any genre, most of them aren’t so great. Here are a few that are all right at least.

1. Tokyo TENMA

Tokyo TENMA is a Shin Megami Tensei-style monster girl RPG with first-person dungeon crawling gameplay. You recruit girls (by having sex with them) and construct your party with the ones you like best. The dungeons are fairly well designed, although the game is extremely easy so there’s no tension. Plus you can save at any time. I beat the final boss in one hit, although there is a (supposedly) harder bonus dungeon. The story is paper thin, and this is only the first part of what will apparently be a longer series.

On the hentai side, this game is great if you like stuff like Violated Hero. Half the monsters are sadists who dominate the protagonist; the other half are masochists who let him take the lead so there’s something for everyone here. All the sex is consensual, but the sadist types go a bit further than the protagonist signed up for. The only complaint I have is the lack of sound effects, but good art and scene design makes up for it.

2. Monster Alchemist

This is one of the most polished and well-designed RPGMaker games I’ve ever seen. That said, the art is surprisingly bad and the scenes have no sound effects. I didn’t see many of the h-scenes, but the ones I did see weren’t so great. For me, the point of an h-game is the hentai, but if you’re just looking for a good RPG with monster girls in it, you could do a lot worse than this one. You play an alchemist who collects ingredients and crafts stuff, including the girls themselves.

3. Dirunween ディルンウィン-現世編- 行け勇者よ! 違う、俺は魔王だ!!

More of a visual novel with fights, kind of like MGQ. It’s really easy and the gameplay is nothing special. Art is nice, but unfortunately the actual sex in the h-scenes is extremely short. If you’re just looking for some nice-looking monster girls to ogle, this one does the job.

4. Dramara Quest

This is a Dragon Quest clone with monster girls. I downloaded a complete save rather than actually playing the game so I can’t tell you if the gameplay is any good. However, the art is pretty nice as are the scenes themselves and the sounds. Maybe a little bland and not enough variety, but what’s there is hot. It’s slightly animated too, which is a plus.

5. Elements! (Power Up)

Elements came out last year, but an “expansion” of sorts just came out. You’ll need the base game and the expansion to play. It’s a sandbox game where you get 5 days to stop the island you’re on from sinking. Lots of crafting, material gathering, buying/selling, etc. It’s very much a cosplay-type of monster girl game, and I didn’t find the h-scenes all too exciting, but it’s a solid game anyway.

6. 魔に堕ちし者-Lilly-

This is a short visual novel about a futa succubus. In the prologue, she all but destroys a kingdom, killing the king and capturing the queen. The princess escapes, rebuilds the kingdom, and trains as a swordsman as Lilly the succubus sleeps. The flunkie monsters can’t finish the job so they wake Lilly up to do it. You get the choice of whether Lilly rapes a mother or her daughter, then she turns them into succubi. If you let the princess kill them, she beats Lilly and has sex with her retainer. Otherwise, she’s captured by Lilly who rapes her in different ways you get to choose. If you pick the bottom option every day, you’ll get an unbirthing scene (I called it vore, but it’s really not since the princess doesn’t die). 1-2-2 is a special ending too. That’s all there is to it, but it’s really hot (and somewhat demented too). Futa succubus, yuri, hypnosis, aphrodisiacs, anal, petrification, unbirthing, lots of oral, and more. The title is something like “One who is corrupted by a demon.”

7. Monster Girl Quest Delicious -Lunch-

The sequel to the set of scenarios I translated earlier this year. It’s not out yet, but there’s a demo out you can download from DLSite. Release date is the end of the year, conveniently right when I finish VH3. I might translate it since it’ll only take a week or two.

So I haven’t done one of these in awhile…

First, if you haven’t already seen, Rogue already translated the demo for Monster Girl Quest 3. The full game is still scheduled for the first half of 2013, but it won’t be soon.

1. Lv1勇者…super long title.

Aomidori’s latest Lv1 game; I’ve just been calling it Level 1 Hero. If you enjoy a lot of the more hardcore aspects of MGQ and VH, you’ll really like this one. At times it can be pretty cringe-worthy, but there are lots of sexy monster girls and scenes. There isn’t a whole lot of game to it, but you’ll probably be glad for that because the interactive elements are somewhat annoying, especially if you aren’t fluent in Japanese. There’s nothing that will stop you from completing the game though. Relatively good art and lots of voice acting. The hero is extremely feminine (his dad wanted a girl…), but he does transform into various monsters and takes a dominant role in some scenes.

If there was any game I’d like to attempt translating, it’s this one, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. The game uses the Livemaker engine, which has apparently been around for 10+ years with no translation tools available. I’ve poked around with the engine, a sample game for it, and Lv1 Hero’s files, and it looks like this would be a huge hacking project that is way beyond me. Short of Aomidori sending someone the game’s project source files for translation, this one’s stuck in Japanese.

2. Chaos Labyrinth

I had high hopes for this game, but it ultimately disappointed me. The art is great and it’s fully voice acted, including the protagonist. It’s even in wide-screen, which is pretty rare for H-games. The problem is that all the scenes are male dominant, and the “monster girls” may as well be humans in cosplay. Half the scenes are just the protagonist having consensual sex with the girls who’ve reverted to human form, and in the monster scenes, almost all of them do that “male off screen so you just see a silhouette of a penis” thing I hate. There’s no interesting monster-on-human sex whatsoever, which completely misses the point of a monster girl game imo. Even Vanadis does a better job than this.

The game itself is a dungeon crawling puzzle game, which may be annoying to play in Japanese. I only mention it at all because the game has high production quality.

3. Desire Dungeon

Half rape-on-lose and half rape-on-win, Desire Dungeon has some nice monster girl scenes, despite the lack of voice acting and mediocre art. The game is a dungeon crawler, except not really because you can only walk forward and backwards. It’s kind of a joke gameplay-wise and also requires a lot of grinding.

Anthemoessa at Hongfire has been working on translating the interface, and Rogue has done a few of the scenes, although I don’t believe anything has been released. I also don’t know if Rogue plans on doing any more on it. It’ll certainly be worth checking out if it gets translated. It desperately needs a scene replayer too, which they’ve promised in patches, but I don’t think has been added yet.

4. Dieselmine’s latest game Total Male Slave

Not a monster girl game unfortunately, but it is about a pair of vampire sisters (and your childhood friend) dominating the protagonist. If you’re really into BDSM, you’ll probably like this, otherwise it’s kind of bleh. It’s also just a visual novel with a few choices of where to spend your day/night in order to “court” the right woman. After getting all three of their endings, you can play again and get a 4th gangbang ending and extra scene.

5. Tsukinomizu’s Lilium Union

A succubus game that hasn’t actually been released yet, but probably will be in a few weeks. It’s made in RPGMaker, but their previous title, Naedoko Dungeon Chronicle, was one of the only good RPGMaker games ever made. Habisain from Hongfire translated the demo already if you want to check it out. The demo isn’t great, but I have higher hopes for the finished product.

There have been a couple other monster/succubus RPGMaker games released in the last few months that I don’t think are even worth mentioning.
